Affiliate Marketing is an interesting question that is getting more and more interest on the internet lately, so I thought I would write a post, just in case you’re new to internet marketing.

Affiliate Marketing boils down to being able to sell someone else’s content or product for them – the list is practically endless – and getting paid a commission (which is usually pretty generous) for sending the author or creator the business.  For example, if a guy who has experience with marketing how-to products on the internet creates a new product, and he wants to have it reach as many people as possible, he would open up the possibility of affiliate marketing. You can usually see an area at the bottom of the offer that will say “Affiliates”. That means that if the creator is willing (and wants to make more money by having YOU send out his content), you can sign up as an affiliate. If the creator accepts you as an affiliate, any time someone buys the program using the link you’re supplied with, you make a commission!

Sounds simple, right? Well now the question is, how will you generate traffic for their program? If you use Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, or You Tube, then you are using what is called Social Media (see, you’re an internet marketer and you didn’t even know it!) Did you know that people are making a living by using these online “gathering spots”? So back to affiliate marketing. Just because you request to be an affiliate doesn’t mean you’ll be approved. Some require additional information about you so as to ensure that you’re not some rookie that will advertise their product erroneously. They have a huge list of products (be careful, you’ll probably see a whole bunch that you’ll want to buy right away) that you can sell as an affiliate.
