Check out this video from Google’s Matt Cuts explaining the importance of keywords in a domain name. On one hand, it seems like keywords in a domain name help. On the other hand, he says Google is trying to also give relevance to domains that don’t have any keywords in the domain at all. I hope this helps you understand the issue a little better.
