Can a cute little fuzz ball like a penguin make your life a nightmare? According to the latest from search giant Google, they’ve just updated their algorithm again:

“The change will decrease rankings for sites that we believe are violating Google’s existing quality guidelines. We’ve always targeted webspam in our rankings, and this algorithm represents another improvement in our efforts to reduce webspam and promote high quality content. While we can’t divulge specific signals because we don’t want to give people a way to game our search results and worsen the experience for users, our advice for webmasters is to focus on creating high quality sites that create a good user experience and employ white hat SEO methods instead of engaging in aggressive webspam tactics.”

Former San Francisco Giant Pat Gomez is now offering pitching lessons in Roseville. Pat has been coached by some of the better known names in baseball including Phil Niekro, Dick Pole, Jim Riggleman, Bruce Bochy, Dusty Baker, and Leo Mazzone to name a few.

Pat was a 1986 graduate of San Juan High School, where in his senior season, he fanned 110 batters in 70 innings of work. Having a fast ball that was clocked consistently in the mid-90s, he was drafted that summer in the 4th round by the Chicago Cubs.

During his time in the minor leagues, he was a 2-time minor league All Star (Carolina League – 1989, Southern League – 1992). One of his fondest memories while in the minor leagues was being a part of the historic 1992 Greenville Braves that won 100 games, a record that still stands today. Pat’s contribution was a 7-0 record with an amazingly low 1.13 ERA. His reward was a call-up to the big leagues in time to be a part of the Atlanta Braves winning the National League West division. They then went on to win the National League Championship Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates (ask to see the ring!).

Making it to “The Show” is every player’s dream, which Pat cracked into for good in 1993 with the San Diego Padres. The 1993 roster included baseball greats like Fred McGriff, Trevor Hoffman, Gary Sheffield, Bruce Hurst, and everyone’s favorite Padre, Tony Gwynn.

The next two years brought him to the San Francisco Giants where he played alongside legends of the game like Matt Williams, Robby Thompson, Dave Burba, Rod Beck, Darryl Strawberry, Willie McGee, Deion Sanders, Shawn Estes, and Barry Bonds.

“Baseball has been a lifelong passion of mine, from playing since I could throw a ball to the big leagues to coaching at local high schools. I learned a long time ago that pitching is a lot more than throwing the ball as hard as you can. There’s a mental aspect as well that is rarely taught at any level”. Pat continued, “Let me share the techniques and approaches to the game that I learned from some of baseball’s finest players and coaches. You’ll be amazed at how the pros approach the game, and it’s a big part of why some guys advance to the next level and some guys don’t.”

Check out this video from Google’s Matt Cuts explaining the importance of keywords in a domain name. On one hand, it seems like keywords in a domain name help. On the other hand, he says Google is trying to also give relevance to domains that don’t have any keywords in the domain at all. I hope this helps you understand the issue a little better.
